James Hogg

James Hogg was a Scottish poet, novelist, and essayist known for his literary works that blend supernatural themes with rich depictions of Scottish landscapes and culture. Born in Ettrick, a remote parish of Selkirkshire, Hogg primarily worked as a shepherd and farmer before he gained recognition as a writer. He is often linked with the Scottish Romantic movement and is sometimes referred to as the 'Ettrick Shepherd,' a pseudonym he adopted early in his career. Hogg's most notable works include 'The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner,' 'The Queen's Wake,' and 'The Shepherd's Calendar.'
