John Suckling

Sir John Suckling was an English poet and prominent figure among Cavalier poets in the early 17th century. He was renowned for his wit, courtly manners, and lyrics. Educated at Cambridge, he inherited substantial wealth and traveled widely. Suckling's most famous works include "Ballad Upon a Wedding" and "The Doubt of Future Foes." He also developed a card game known as cribbage. His later life was marred by political intrigue, leading to his mysterious death in Paris.
