Samuel Minturn Peck

Samuel Minturn Peck was an American poet known for his collection of poems that often reflected the Southern United States culture of his time. Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, he became Alabama's first poet laureate in 1930, a title he held until his death. Peck’s works frequently appeared in prominent periodicals and he was noted for his lyrical, musical style and his ability to capture the essence of Southern life in his writings.
