Winthrop Mackworth Praed

Winthrop Mackworth Praed was an English poet and politician, known for his lightly satirical verse. Praed was educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he gained a reputation as a writer of humorous verse, and he later became a barrister and a Member of Parliament. He contributed to various literary magazines and co-founded the Etonian and the Bon-Mot. His poetry often focused on social themes and was appreciated for its wit and elegance. Praed passed away at a young age of 37.
